Approval according to Module D for the in-house production site of the Siconia™ “SMARTY IQ” smgw

Hamburg, 3rd September 2018

Smart meter gateway (smgw) manufacturer Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus obtains Module D from the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) for the in-house production facility in Rostock.

Sagemcom Neuhaus is successfully taking the penultimate step of the smart meter gateway certification according to the Common Criteria (CC) at the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). "We are already familiar with the production of BSI-certified products. Hence, we are very pleased about the Module D approval, because now our SICONIATM ‘SMARTYIQ’ smart meter gateway can be placed on the market in compliance with the requirements for legal metrology," explains Christian Lipke, production manager at Sagemcom Dr.Neuhaus GmbH. "We are the first company with an in-house production site to receive this approval. With regard to the calibration law, all requirements have been met by our smgw; so CC certification is within reach now."

As part of the approval procedure according to Module D, the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) assesses and supervises the quality assurance of the production process of smart meter gateways. This requires a comprehensive quality management system for the production, final inspection and testing of the manufactured SICONIATM ‘SMARTYIQ’ gateways. Moreover, the approval of the production is based on the recently passed type examination according to the so-called Module B (PTB requirements 50.8).
