VIVAVIS and Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus ensure interoperability between control box and smart meter gateway

VIVAVIS and Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus have successfully achieved interoperability between their hardware systems. The coordinated solution provides an important foundation for grid-oriented control in accordance with Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG). It also supports the controllability of consumption installations under Section 9 EnWG, thereby facilitating the further rollout of smart metering systems.

VIVAVIS AG and Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus GmbH have ensured the interoperability of the VIVAVIS STB-24B control box with Sagemcom’s smart meter gateway the SICONIA® SMARTY IQ-LTE. This was made possible by close collaboration during the development and testing of the respective firmware versions. The aim of the partnership was to enable reliable communication between the control box and the smart meter gateway. The adapted control box firmware was recertified by the BSI on 10 September 2026. Newly ordered control boxes are already supplied with the corresponding firmware.

By successfully ensuring interoperability, VIVAVIS and Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus are creating an important foundation for the rollout of smart metering systems combined with control solutions that meet the requirements of Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG). The two companies are also already working together to ensure interoperability for future generations of devices. This collaboration will continue as Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus develops its next-generation smart meter gateway in accordance with TR 2.0, the SICONIA® SMARTY SMGW, enabling customers to continue relying on compatible, future-proof solutions. .
